I traveled from Jacksonville, FL to Gulf Shores, AL to photograph a beautiful beach wedding for a very sweet couple!! The couple and their families rented out several airbnbs near the beach and enjoyed their time in Gulf Shores!
Brides will sometimes ask me if I recommend a destination wedding over a wedding at a larger local wedding venue. As much as I want to scream "YES!" because my husband and I had a destination wedding in the Bahamas and have zero regrets, the answer isn't that easy. The truth is, I DON'T believe that a destination wedding is the perfect fit for everyone. So, if you’re a bride-to-be or hope to be engaged soon, this post may be helpful to you!
Every couple needs to recognize what they want their wedding day to be like. Everyone is different and therefore will have different preferences for their wedding day. For some couples, that may mean a destination wedding! So how do you know if a destination wedding is the right fit for you?!

- YOU DON'T LIKE BIG GROUPS! If you avoid social events with a ton of people a large wedding can be a lot to take in.
- YOU ARE IN IT FOR THE PORTRAITS!!!! Destination weddings can give you some breathtaking portraits that you will fall in love with! I mean, if you’re getting married in a foreign country or any long distance location, it’s probably going to be a beautiful place that's like nothing you will find at home! Document that unique location with beautiful portraits!
- YOU VALUE EXPERIENCES! A lot of couples who choose to have a destination wedding love to travel and want to share that joy with their close family and friends. For some, the trip could be their first time visiting that location!
- YOU WANT TO EXTEND THE FUN! You hear people say it all the time, "it's your day!" It's true! And that day is filled with friends, family, laughter, smiles, tears of joy, great food, and so much more. But eventually the day is over and so is the fun, right? Not for destination weddings!
