Why You Need a Wedding Website (And What to Include)

As a Jacksonville and St. Augustine wedding photographer who specializes in authentic, documentary-style storytelling, I know how important it is for your guests to feel informed and welcomed — especially those traveling from out of town.
That’s where a wedding website comes in. It’s more than a checklist item — it’s your wedding’s online home. From travel info and RSVPs to introducing your wedding party and sharing your story, your website helps make the entire experience smoother, warmer, and more personal for everyone involved.

Why You Need a Wedding Website
Everything in one place.
Your guests won’t have to dig through texts or emails — your date, venue, dress code, and schedule are all right there.
- It helps answer the common questions.
- Where should we stay? What’s the weather like? Can we bring kids? Your site answers everything for you, which saves you a lot of follow-up later.
- It helps guests plan their trip.
- Especially for destination weddings (or even semi-local guests!), it’s helpful to include nearby accommodations, restaurants, and things to do.
- It’s part of your story.
- From how you met to your favorite photos together, your site is a chance to document your journey — which I love as a documentary-style couple photographer!

What to Include on Your Wedding Website
- Your Names & Wedding Date
- Keep it front and center — simple and clear.
- The Schedule
- Ceremony and reception times, addresses, parking info, and any additional events like welcome parties or post-wedding brunches.
- RSVP Link or Instructions
- Make it easy for guests to let you know they’re coming — bonus points if you ask for dietary restrictions or song requests!
- Dress Code or Theme
- Give guests some guidance, especially if you’re going for something a little nontraditional.
- Your Story
- Include a short blurb about how you met, your proposal story, or what you're most excited about. This adds a personal touch your guests will love.
- Photos
- Share your engagement session (if we’ve done one!) or a few favorite snapshots. This is where that authentic, documentary-style photography really shines — giving people a feel for your relationship.
- Out-of-Town Guest Info
- This part is especially important for Jacksonville and St. Augustine weddings — and it’s where you can really make your guests feel taken care of.

Introduce Your Wedding Party
This is one of the most underused but best-loved parts of a wedding website.
Not all of your guests will know your entire wedding party, and giving them an introduction adds a warm, personal touch to your day.
What to include:
- A casual photo of each person (bonus if it’s a fun one from a shared memory!)
- Their name and role (e.g., Maid of Honor, Best Man, etc.)
- A brief blurb about how you know them and why they’re important to you
💡 Example:
"Jess (Maid of Honor) – We've been best friends since middle school, survived dorm life, and she still knows when I need to laugh and when I need fries."
This makes guests feel more connected and gives your VIPs a sweet spotlight, too.
